Fresher’s Trip to Perranporth

Welcome!

Come join us on our first trip of the year to sunny Perranporth in Cornwall for a surftastic time.

The club will provide transport, accommodation, food and canoeing equipment for the weekend. We will leave on Friday from the university boathard (which is very close to Montefiore halls of residence).

When everyone arrives at the scout hut there will be fun and games organised by our lovely committee.

During Saturday we will be at the beach surfing some amazing waves and building sand castles of course. In the evening it will be back to the scout hut for dinner and some more evening entertainment.

Sunday will be back at the beach and then in the afternoon we will head home and drop everyone off at the boat hard.

No previous experience is required for this trip – it is a good introduction into kayaking and a jolly good laugh and a good way to meet some new friends.

The trip will usually cost £35 which will need to be paid before you get on the minibus; this can be in cash, cheque (made payable to Southampton University Canoe Club), or by bank transfer. You need to have become a member of the club to go on any trips.

Things that you need to bring:

Enough changes of clothes as you may get wet ( this should include things to wear with a wetsuit [swimming trunks, t-shirt, fleece] – please bring your own wetsuit if you have it)

  • Some shoes you do not mind getting wet
  • Sleeping bag/roll matt
  • Appropriate gear for the outside environment
  • Towel
  • Money for trip and food on Friday and Sunday evening (not provided by the club)
