FAQ’s

Here are the most frequently asked questions about SUCC by you the freshers.

1. Q:Do I have to have kayaked prior to joining this club?

A: You do not need any prior kayaking experience in order to kayak in our club, the club provides training for all beginners and supports you to a level that you are comfortable with.

2. Q: Do I need to be able to swim?

A: Yes, you do need to be able to swim at least 50 meters in a swimming pool without having to put your feet down, this is due to that fact that even though the club is very safe, you are likely to get wet, especially as a beginner!

3. Q: If I am a confident paddler what can your club offer to me?

A: As a club we are very much open to all levels of ability, as far as progression goes there is always something to learn and there are always plenty of people to teach, so if you get bored of river running there are plenty of playboaters around to take you under their wing!

A: We do run club socials every week! They are very popular and we provide a wide range of activities…. not just alcoholic but also non-alcoholic socials!

We run pool sessions every Monday and Thursday night from 9-10pm thats fantastic for learning your kayaking rolls! But thats not all! We also run club trips every fortnight that go everywhere that can offer good rivers or surf. Last but not least if you are uber keen lots of members like going to the Itchen at weekends, so keep your eyes peeled on the forum!
