About The Club

Southampton University Canoe Club (affectionately known as SUCC) is a group of people drawn from throughout the University of Southampton, UK, with a common interest in canoeing/kayaking and generally having a good time. The club is run on behalf of it's members by the committee, and is part of the Athletic Union in the Southampton Students Union.

The Canoe Club is one of the most active in the University, running trips virtually every weekend throughout the year and enjoying a packed social calendar. Whatever your ability level you'll be sure to love the sport of canoeing. SUCC travels around the country in pursuit of the wildest whitewater and the biggest surf, but don't be scared off - the majority of our trips are ideally suited to beginners too! And if team sport is more your thing the club has a successful canoe polo section.

The club also runs weekly training sessions. You can learn and improve upon your paddling skills both in the warmth of the University swimming pool in the Jubilee Sports Centre, and on the open water of the River Itchen (where there is also a tidal weir for more experienced canoeists).

Membership

Membership is £20 per year (+£5 for AU membership) for each club (canoe/canoe polo), which includes all the training sessions and use of our equipment. Membership is reduced to £10 If you join in the second semester, due to the reduced trips running. You must be a member of the Athletic Union to join. Trips cost £30 on average. If you have your own boat you are welcome to store it at the University Boathard for a small fee (insurance is also available). If you'd like to become a member get in touch.
